Programme

The course, of medium-advanced level, is aimed at all vocal registers.
For the selection, please submit two pieces of different character and style via audio or video material.
The course aims to study the stylistic and expressive aspects of accompanied monody and recitar cantando.
However, a program of the student’s choice is still permitted, should he or she be interested in learning more about other repertoires.

The teacher

Born in Reggio Emilia, after her violin studies she studied singing with Henny Von Walther, Franca Mattiucci and Elena Kriatchko, under whose guidance she graduated with full marks. She made her debut in the roles of La Musica and Euridice in Monteverdi’s “Orfeo” at the Teatro Real in Madrid in 1999 under the direction of Jordi Savall. From 1999 to today she collaborates regularly with Hesperion XXI and La Capella Reial de Catalunya directed by J. Savall in different programs. Since 2002 she has been a member of Concerto Italiano directed by Rinaldo Alessandrini. Monica Piccinini is invited to sing regularly with the Byzantine Academy, directed by Ottavio Dantone, as well as by other prestigious ensembles on the international scene: Europa Galante, Ensemble Zefiro, La Venexiana, Concerto Romano, Concerto Palatino, Simone Vallerotonda and I Bassifondi. He has collaborated with Collegium Vocale Gent, Les Talens Lyriques, La Petite Bande, Ensemble 415, Al Ayre Español, Ricerche Consort, Dolce & Tempesta, Ensemble Concerto, the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchestra, the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.
She sang in Europe, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Lebanon, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand in some of the most prestigious theaters and concert halls, including: La Scala Theater in Milan, Accademia di S. Cecilia, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Real in Madrid, Opéra Royal in Versailles, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center NY, Citè de la Musique and Philarmonie in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, Auditorio Nacional de España, Festival of Flanders, Edinburgh Festival, etc.
She sang under the direction of Christoph Rousset, Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Ottavio Dantone, Fabio Biondi, Alfredo Bernardini, Philippe Pierlot, Sigiswald and Wijland Kuijken ,, Eduardo Lopez-Banzo.
You have worked with directors such as Gilbert Deflo, Brockhaus, Davide Livermore, Jacopo Spirei, Hinnrich Hortskotte, Adrian Schwazstein, Bob Wilson.
You received the nomination for the 2008 Grammy Awards for the interpretation of La Musica in L ‘Orfeo by Monteverdi (R. Alessandrini, Naive 2007).
You have recorded for Naïve, Glossa, Alia Vox, Opus 111, Stradivarius, Tactus, Symphonia, Dynamic, Fuga Libera, Christophorus, Deutschlandfunk, NovaAntiqua, Brilliant.

She is currently a teacher of Renaissance and Baroque singing at the “Dall’Abaco” Conservatory of Music in Verona.
