FIMA has been organizing its famous courses, as well as the Urbino summer festival of Early Music, for more than fifty years. Today, by taking this initiative, it is endeavouring to connect more systematically to the musical fabric of the latest generations, who are the result of the excellent departments of Early Music of Italian and european conservatories, and who now represent a solid, main reality.

The aim of FIMA – Urbino Musica Antica contest is not mere competing. Each group and each musician must constructively take advantage of the competition, understanding it as a meeting ground and an opportunity for discussing and connecting between musicians from different realities.

In particular, we felt the need – in these bizarre times characterized by the Covid-19 emergency and in contrast with the novel reality it has imposed on us– to give life to something new, which we hope will be followed up in the years to come.

Not only will the jury evaluate the technical preparation of the musicians and the overall quality of the ensemble, it will also assess the research and the concept behind the chosen programme, as well as its presentation.

In both stages, jury members will be available for constructive feedback.

Members of the jury of this edition: Paolo Grazzi, Rossella Croce, Andrea Damiani, Alessandro Quarta (president), Gabriele Rossi Rognoni

Secretaries: Lara Amici, Alberto Annarilli
