LIVIA CAFFAGNI has a diploma in recorder
from the Conservatory of Bologna, a degree in modern foreign languages and
literature from Bologna
University, and has
studied viola da gamba with
Paolo Pandolfo, Gregorian semiology
with Antonino Albarosa, and voice with Sergio Foresti. She
began her concert activity collaborating with various ensembles specialised in
Renaissance and Baroque music in 1982, and since 1986
collaborates regularly with La Reverdie, having performed with this ensemble at
numerous prestigious European festivals.
Since 1993 she records regularly for the French label Arcana, under the patronage of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk
(WDR). Since 1997 she has been active as
a teacher of the recorder, having held positions at the Conservatories of Vicenza, Pescara,
Bari
and, since 2003, Trento. She also teaches at various courses, seminars
and masterclasses of early music, with particular
attention to problems of "authenticity" in the performance of
Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music.
