Repertoire 1500 – 1820: Renaissance one-rowed harps, Italian and Spanish chromatic harps and the harpe organisée (single-action pedal harp).
Italian: Luzzaschi, M. Rossi, G. Strozzi, G. Frescobaldi, G.M. Trabaci, Mayone, Dell'Buono
Spanish: Coehlo, Cabezon, Ribayaz
Classical music: Couperin, Scarlatti, Pasquini, Meyer, Hochbrucker, Krumpholtz, Spohr, Mozart, Beethoven
Harp Consort: Madrigals and part-playing for 4 harps.
Improvisation: Basso continuo, classical accompanying styles, preludes, elaborations, cadenzas.
The class is open to players of: Renaissance one-rowed harps, Italian and Spanish chromatic harps and the harpe organisée (single-action pedal harp). The focus is on the historical repertoire from the prima prattica to the 19th century, both solo and chamber music including basso continuo playing. There is a strong emphasis on historical improvisation and composition (preludes, cadenzas, elaboration) and an approach at non-standarised interpretatons. For the harpe organisée the unique pedal technique will be studied and applied.
Instruments: Each harpist is expected to bring their own harp.
